Eligibility Considerations

  • Projects must be based in, take place in, or primarily benefit residents of the Jersey City Heights.
  • Projects must provide a clear and identifiable benefit to the broader Heights community.
  • Preference will be given to projects that are open, welcoming, and reasonably accessible to community members.
  • Projects serving clearly defined community segments with specific needs (such as youth, seniors, immigrants, or low-income residents) are encouraged.
  • Applicants should be able to describe the anticipated community impact of their project.
  • Projects must be completed within 6 months of receiving funds.
  • No prior nonprofit experience is required. Community groups, informal neighborhood organizations, and resident-led projects are welcome.

What We Fund

  • Public Art — Murals, installations, and creative projects that beautify and inspire shared spaces.
  • Community Events — Block events, neighborhood festivals, and gatherings that bring residents together.
  • Youth Programs — Activities, workshops, and initiatives that support young people in the Heights.
  • Beautification — Community gardens, tree planting, pocket parks, and urban greening projects.
  • Environmental — Sustainability initiatives, clean-up efforts, and environmental education projects.
  • Educational Workshops — Learning opportunities and skill-building programs open to the community.

What's Not Funded

  • Expenses unrelated to the proposed project
  • Illegal activities
  • Political campaign activities
  • Activities that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or national origin
